Comparing transparent with other colors:

The price of transparent and white heat shrink tube is same. Excepting the difference in color, the transparent heat shrinkable tubes are not flame retardant. White heat shrink tube is generally flame retardant. If they are printed, the adhesion force on the white tube is higher than that of the transparent tube.

Comparing transparent heat shrinkable tubes with ordinary heat shrinkable tube, excepting the difference in color, the performance is basically similar, the shrink ratio is also the basic 2:1 or 3:1 and 4:1, use heating to shrink. However, to ensure the tube clearance, the flame retardants can’t be added into the material of clear tubes, that’s why most of the clear heat shrink tubing usually are non flame retardant, excepting some special material, such as Kynar, clear Kynar tube is flame retardant.

 

How to choose a correct size of heat shrink tube for the wire or cable?

The heat shrinkable tube has different thermal shrinkage rates, before using a heat shrink tubing, we need to find a correct shrink ratio, at the time of selection, we must abide the principle: the tube before shrinking /as supply inner diameter should larger than the out diameter of the covered object, to ensure the object(wire and cable) can go through the tube smoothly, and the tube after shrinking / recovered inner diameter should be smaller than the wire and cable out diameter, to ensure the tube tighten on the wire and cables.

 

Such as: the maximum diameter after shrinkage is 2mm,

If the tube shrink rate is 2:1, the tube as supply/ before shrinking ID should be 4mm min, we say the tube size is 4/2mm.

If the shrinkage ratio is 3:1, the before shrinking ID should be 6mm min, we say the tube size is 6/2mm.
