History of the development of cold shrink tube

Cold shrinkage material technology was invented in the United States in the mid-1960s. It was not applied in the field of deep work at first. Until the late 1980s, cold shrinkage technology was applied to cable joints in North America. But limited to the material technology at that time, the shrinkage speed was slow, the permanent deformation was large, and the storage period was short, so it brought a lot of inconvenience in practical application. Since the 1990s, with the development of rubber technology, materials and technology have been unified and many excellent properties of rubber materials have been brought into play.

There are three main threads in the development of cold-shrinkable materials technology.

1. Material technology: After the stage of ordinary rubber - thermo-shrinkable elastomer - ethylene propylene rubber - silicone rubber, the development trend of materials in the future is solid silicone rubber - liquid silicone rubber - liquid silicone rubber - liquid silicone rubber as the main and containing fluorine materials to meet the application requirements of special fields.

2. Expansion technology: experienced steel wire expansion - bag expansion - no steel wire expansion without bag expansion.

3. Supporting material: experienced welding nylon spiral pipe - - Welding polyethylene spiral pipe - - non-welding polypropylene spiral pipe.

In 1994, cold shrinkage products entered the Chinese market, initially affected by the vigorous trend of heat shrinkage materials, and did not receive market recognition. After 2000, with the obvious advantages of cold shrinkage material technology, the market began to grow rapidly and became the most popular new technology products for customers.

At present, the domestic technology of cold-shrinkable materials is in its infancy, facing huge market opportunities, it is of great significance to develop products suitable for domestic use of cold-shrinkable materials to replace imported products.

冷缩管的发展史

冷缩材料技术在上世纪60年代中期由美国发明产生,刚开始并没有应用于太深入的工作领域,直到80年代后期开始,北美地区将冷缩技术尝试应用于电缆接头。但限于当时的材料技术,收缩速度慢,永久形变大,存储期短,因此在实际应用中带来诸多不便。90年代开始,随着橡胶技术的发展,才使得材料和技术得到统一,发挥了橡胶材料诸多的优异性能。

       冷缩材料技术的发展过程主要有三条主线,交替向前发展:

       1、材料技术:经历了普通橡胶---热缩弹性体---乙丙橡胶---硅橡胶阶段,今后材料的发展趋势为固体硅橡胶---液体硅橡胶---液体硅橡胶为主兼含有氟材料以满足特种领域的应用要求。

       2、扩张技术:经历了钢丝扩张---布袋扩张---无钢丝无布袋扩张。

       3、支撑材料:经历了焊接尼龙条螺旋管---焊接聚乙烯条螺旋管---无焊接聚丙烯条螺旋管。

       1994年冷缩产品进入中国市场,最初受到热缩材料风头正劲的影响,并未得到市场认可。2000年后,随着冷缩材料技术的明显优势,市场开始迅速增长,成为客户最受欢迎的新技术产品。

       目前,国内冷缩材料技术属于刚刚起步阶段,面临巨大的市场机遇,开发出适合国内使用的冷缩材料产品,用来替代进口产品具有重要意义。
