In fact, the thermal performance of insulation materials also determines the thermal performance of heat-shrinkable pipes, because the main material used in heat-shrinkable pipes is insulation materials. The thermal performance of insulation materials is analyzed in three aspects below.
1. The relationship between life and temperature
Figure 2-19 shows the relationship between life and temperature. It can be seen from the figure that the life of cross-linked polyethylene material is better than that of polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene.
2. Overload characteristics
The overload test results are shown in Fig. 220. Under the loading condition, when the temperature is close to 250 C, the change of the characteristics of cross-linked polyethylene can be seen.
3. Anti-aging
The aging test was completed in hot air at 140 C. The changes of tensile strength and extensibility were shown in Fig. 2-21.
